Originally from New Jersey, Cheryl and her husband, Dr. Luis Fernandez, have three sons who attended Prescott's public schools. Cheryl enjoys golf, hiking, working out, spinning, and spending quality time with her family at local dining establishments and events.
Cheryl dedicates extensive time to community service in Prescott. At The Club at Prescott Lakes, she was instrumental in establishing the junior golf program, served a two-year term on the Board of Governors, and actively participated in the social committee for several years. She has also contributed over twelve years to the Board of Directors for the Estancia De Prescott HOA and served multiple terms on the Prescott High School Booster Club Boards. Her active advocacy for public schools has earned her a strong reputation for dedication, commitment, and comprehensive knowledge of the schools and the broader community.
One of Cheryl’s proudest achievements is her role as one of the five founding board members of the Prescott Unified School District Education Foundation. This foundation has successfully raised more than $1 million, which has been reinvested into PUSD schools. Her local charitable involvements also extend to organizations such as No More Hungry Kids, Free Wheelchair Mission, Habitat for Humanity, and the PUSD Education Foundation.
