The Links at North Hills Neighborhood Overview
The Links at North Hills is a distinctive, master-planned residential community situated within the incorporated village of North Hills, in the town of North Hempstead, on Long Island's North Shore. This prestigious enclave is characterized by its rolling, manicured landscapes and its central feature: a private, 18-hole championship golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. The neighborhood's identity is intrinsically tied to this recreational amenity, offering a serene, country club-like atmosphere while being conveniently located just minutes from the Northern State Parkway and a short drive from New York City.
Developed primarily in the late 1980s and 1990s, The Links represents a deliberate shift towards luxury, low-density living within the broader Hempstead area. The community was carefully crafted around the golf course, with homesites positioned to maximize views and privacy. This planned approach created a cohesive architectural aesthetic and a strong sense of place, setting it apart from the more traditional, grid-like neighborhoods found elsewhere in the region. Its location within the Village of North Hills provides a high degree of local control and services, contributing to its exclusive character.
Housing & Real Estate
The housing stock in The Links at North Hills consists almost exclusively of large, single-family homes, predominantly in traditional styles such as Colonials, Tudors, and custom-built contemporaries. Lot sizes are generous, often exceeding half an acre, with many properties backing directly onto the golf course fairways or offering scenic views of the meticulously maintained greens. Architectural guidelines within the community help maintain a consistent, high-quality streetscape and property values.
Real estate here commands premium prices, consistently ranking among the most expensive in Nassau County. Home values typically range from the high $1 millions to well over $3 million, depending on size, location, and golf course frontage. The market is overwhelmingly owner-occupied, with a very low rental presence. Recent trends show sustained demand for this type of secluded, amenity-rich suburban living, with properties often retaining their value exceptionally well due to the limited inventory and the irreplaceable nature of the golf course setting.
